you can and have the potential to really flavor the hell out of your pipe bacca,

..i mean when you smell some good bacca aroma, it's usually coming from a pipe,

Hi Chicken. Many times I have had women come up to me when I was smoking my pipe. I usually push my chest out a bit and pull in my tummy as I see them approaching. Many of them have told me they love the smell of the tobacco. This makes me incredibly happy. Then they add that it reminds me of their grandfather when he was alive and the smell brings back fond memories. Now I am not sure whether to take it as a compliment or a condemnation!

It does make for an interesting comparison. Almost all women I've met think cigars stink but they all love the smell of a pipe

The emotional center of the brain is derived from the olfactory complex. You'll have warm, fuzzy feelings when you smell whatever Grandpa smoked or Grandma cooked. My grandchildren, when they become adults, will think happy thoughts whenever they smell a cigar--and they may not know why.

You're absolutely correct. If driving down the road I get a little wiff of skunk it brings back all kinds of warm fuzzies. No idea why. Go figure. -- John

Just as Seanz said, they don't like English blends. They like aromatics but I rarely smoke aros. I find myself smoking mostly English or Virginia blends or anything else that has little to no added fragrances. If I want to smell fragrances, I'll go to the Hallmark store and buy some scented candles.

I never knew that there was a link with the olfactory complex and the emotional part of the brain. Maybe that's why I like the smell of diesel. The smell of diesel reminds me of when I went to Rome when I was a kid. I hold fond memories of that trip.

My favorite mix for the moment is this

Red Virginia (Toasted ) 20%
Bright Virginia (Toasted ) 34%
Oriental 26%
Brown Cavendish 19%
(unsweetened)
Kentucky Firecured 7%
Stoved Virginia 4%

The odd amounts is result of what i had left in cans and jars , and it it came out pretty good i must say

another favorite mix is
(usually smoked wintertime)
Virginia 45%
Oriental 45%
Latakia 10%

That second recipe looks quite good and I just happen to have the ingredients. (thanks to JBD for a small amount of Latakia) I'll use Izmir, what are you using for your Oriental?

And you are STILL an excellent judge of good pipe tobacco.
You guys are killing me with all this raving about Samsun Maden. BigB ran out of Samsun Maden by the time I ordered. So... Anyone want to trade a bit for some Syrian Latakia?

If you don't find any before mine is harvested and cured we can do some swapping. I'll have seed, too.
