I picked up the pipe a few years ago and have been finding it increasingly enjoyable. Like any number of others who can cook better meals at home and with higher-quality ingredients than you'd find in 99% of restaurants, I started wondering about if there's a parallel to this, producing decent pipe tobacco. A little searching led me to this goldmine of information. Very much looking forward to where this leads...

Making your own blends without all the additives in commercial pipe tobacco is the way to go. So much less tongue bite/ mouth irritation and wetness in the pipe to deal with. Also natural tobacco flavor. Once you start you won’t go back LOL! Is a very fun hobby and very rewarding. Have fun on your new journey.

I'm so pleased to hear this. It didn't take long to discover my preference is tobacco-flavored tobacco. While not mandatory in everything I smoke, I do enjoy stronger mixes. Also, the threat of FDA limiting nicotine seems like something to get ahead of by turning this into a bit of a DIY project.

I found that site and look forward to becoming a customer. While I have some grasp of straight burley, I'm much less clear on identifying the character of other types that commonly appear in blends. This seems like a real opportunity for learning what Virginias, Periques, Orientals, etc. individually bring to the table.
