I pulled a few strings to make this deal and I'm pretty happy with the results.

Izmir.jpg

This is an extremely small leaf, so there is no need to remove the mid-rib. The flavor is very mild, but aromatic.

This weekend only (6-22-12 through 6-24-12) FTT members will receive a buy-one get-one free deal plus the 20% discount...that's a great deal.

To get the deal, you have to include your user name in a PM to me here and I'll add your free Izmir to your order.

The BOGO offer is for Izmir only, but any quantity you want.

Order here

Hmmm, I was just noticing I'm out of fire cured, Will pm this evening. I am down to my last leaf of the Zam fire cured and Bobs, home fired shariza. Both made excellent flavor by adding a medium strip to home rolled cigars.
Out of ignorance I'm gonna ask is the VBN wrapper fermented? I assumed not. I like it the way it is either way.

The VBN is fully finished leaf, and ready for use as a cigar wrapper. I've sampled nearly a dozen different grades and colors. Excellent stuff. All it needs is some filler to make a damn good cigar.

The Izmir should be perfect for cigarette blending, and for cutting tobacco for pipe blending. Cornell & Diehl sells "Turkish" blending tobacco, which is Izmir, and is already shredded, for about double the price, plus excise tax (since it's shredded). It's hard to beat the straight price for Izmir on FTT. With the BOGO offer, it's just insanely inexpensive.

Bob, You mean to tell me I have been using fermented wrapper and didn't know. I wish someone would have told me. Damn, no wonder I like it so much. I realy have grown accustomed to the aroma and flexibility of Dons wrapper leaf. FmGrowit says his supply on the VBN is limited.

Flattened and Fermented, try that yourself. I'm a believer.

This is a Double Claro wrapper. "Claro" (singular) is lighter in color, but still green.

What do you mean -- unfortunately??

This is a GREAT tobacco site.

John

As hard as I try, I can't figure out how to incorporate nipples into a tobacco sight...unfortunately.

I figured out a way but that would be off topic for this thread.;) I.m looking forward to trying the Bezuki wrapper, and the Turkish izmir. Where does the Bezuki originate from?

All of the VBN wrappers that I have tried are a light brown to medium brown. Green wrappers are called either candela or double claro. Not too many years ago, they were consistently labled as AMS, for American Market Selection, since only Americans seemed to buy cigars wrapped in green wrappers. Claro itself is a light blond (occasionally labeled as "Spanish Claro"), and was sometimes marked as SMS, for Spanish Market Selection. Colors ranging from a little darker than claro through redish colorado to the lighter instances of maduro were labeled EMS, for English Market Selection. Today, not even Americans buy green wrapped cigars in significant numbers.

You can make green wrappers by rapidly drying green leaf, to instantly fix the chlorophyll and kill the leaf. (Sometimes this happens accidentally.) Solidly green leaf put into a kiln will come out of the kiln still green. It has a bland, chlorophyll taste. If you happen to end up with some dried green leaf, give it a try, but don't expect much.

Bob

NOTE: I have seen green cigars mislabeled as just "claro" on a couple of websites, though this is quite recent. Even the venerable JR Cigars site has gone to labeling cigars as "green," "light brown," "medium brown," and "dark brown." (This latter unfortunate turn only occurred after Lew Rothman sold JR to a consortium of mindless marketeers.)
