So i received some seeds from the place i thought wouldn't get through, wasn't northwood. but i'm still waiting for those as thats where I've ordered the other lot from thanks to oldfella's advice.

so i've planted 4 habano 2000 seeds to see if this will work. if not i'll try something else. i've used seeding mix in this tray.

Hi, may I suggest that you sow your your seeds as I do. I've found that they get a good start as your not disturbing the root system. Check out my blog for details. Good luck with your grow, I'll be watching with interest.

i went to bunnings but they had none of those jiffy pots. i'll need to go to the other bunnings because the one in glenfield says it has stuff but when you go in store its never there....

Your plants seem to be way behind mine, although container plants are a bit like that. Are you using a fertilizer? Also I noticed one plant that has grasshopper or cricket damage, they are bad this year. I've lost about half of my crop to them. Never mind I'm just getting what I can and letting the Stumps give me a 2nd crop as the Bugs are slowing down now winter is approaching, I may even get a 3rd crop if I need to.
Good luck with your curing.

ps, mow the grass, grasshoppers don't like short grass.

My experience with crickets and grass is that if there is any grass or other plant that is tall enough to make contact with the tobacco leaves, the crickets seem to just walk on over to the tobacco. The difference is noticeable. Crickets do occasionally damage lower leaves on plants near mowed grass, but to a much lesser extent. But where grass or flowers are consistently high (which happens in a tobacco bed I have against my house foundation—no access to mow close to the wall) I always have cricket damage to lower leaves. In general, it's just the lower leaves.

That's right Bob damage from Crickets is usually confined to bottom leaves which is why I don't worry about it. This year has been very good for both Crickets and grasshoppers and bad for tobacco growers. Good job I have my 2nd grow underway.
