Ive just got it all still hanging inside at the moment,trying to keep the humidity up,and bags to slow things up abit,im keeping my eye out for a broken upright freezer,but not in a hurry till this drys without damage,heres some pics,.iv converted my daughters cot,she doesn't need it anymore( shes 7 now)

Looking good. Remember that cigar leaf is harvested at an earlier stage than cigarette leaf. I think when it's mature but not ripe. You have some very clean looking leaf. I take it no worm problems. Lucky.

LOL I use 50lb fishing line Threaded through the leaves and then bash nails in to string my baccy As i dont have to worry too much about flash curing down here

Ive been using a bunch of quick ties I had laying round, they're quite convenient to use,and cheap...usually about 4-6 leaves per hand( depending on the size of the leaves)then I can split the hand to hang ova string,poles,etc

Jeklnz, Have you checked out the different string tying threads with videos? Another solution to low humidity is to still hang in shed or covered area out of direct wind and weather and mist with garden hose at night to bring back into case when humidity should rise anyway. I did that when I had to tie hands for cured leaves on low humidity days. Just a suggestion on labor reduction as %50 -60 percent humidity should still color cure with a little help. Going back and reading your posts if you tried hanging in your shed they should yellow and or brown under your conditions. The mist in the evening would help if they tried to dry green. You will want to find a solution to cut your labor down from having to makeshift indoor drying for next year which will be a bigger crop.

4 sure,im already thinking about wat half of the back and front yard im going to plow up!! im renting but the lawn has to go for bacci,it'll grow back,ive already maxt out the available existing beds.
Im definitely want to grow some good different fill. wrap.binder,also some nice burley and Asian,Turkish
.and get a flue/cure box sussed outin the near future once I scrounge the parts needed.
For sure got the bacci grow bug tho,its kinda similar to "other" stuff I grew wen I was younger,different strains etc...its good cause most wat I already knew towards growing indoor/out can be used the same for bacci,u know how far people growing that stuff go for their product,so its saved me buying alot of stuff needed that I already had,and can use tricks leanrt from it,...also u don't end with the police knocking on ur door arresting u...well long as u dont sell it cut up

This is a little off topic but what's the limit of growing and shredding tobacco for personal purposes in NZ ?

Your allowed to grow and possess no more than 15kg annually ,as long as your of age(ova18) and it has been grown on your own(sin.gle) property and is for personal consumption.a guy in nelson (top of sth. Is. NZ)got busted selling it and got caught with 4500(approx.)kg .MAF(ministry of agriculture & fishing) who busted him,said it was potentially 2 million worth of bacci if he was to sell it,I cant remember how much he was fined...but I think its up to $10,000nzd.
not sure about import export of whole leaf,the guys on here said its ok to send it here no problem in the past.

Growing tobacco and vegetables, hunting and fishing saves me literaly thousands of dollars each year out of pocket expenses for the effort I put into it. Plus a hell of a lot more fun than dishing that money out for what I can do myself.

And then there is the pure selfish satisfaction of doing it for your self. I am asked why I cook and bake almost everything for myself. Besides being frugal (cheap) I get to eat exactly what I want when I want it without a truckload of chemicals. If I eff up a meal it is my own fault and I try not to do it again. And when it is out of sight I know exactly who to pat on the back (or stomach). I still haven't got the hang of English Muffins. Damn.
