Huge difference between different virginia.

Why the smallest virginia gold is first making the flowers and the bigger brothers have bigger leaves but no flowers?
Various types of stress can trigger early blossoming. Sometimes the same stress has limited the growth of the leaves. The stressors can be related to soil or nutrients or to exposure to artificial lighting during critical periods of seedling development. These responses also vary by tobacco variety.

While I was at summer cottage the plants at home have gotten really big.
Now I don’t know what level is the crow’s foot.
Should I just let the Tofta keep it’s flowers?IMG_4807.jpeg

Since the plants have already so big is it bad idea if I don`t cut the flowers?
Topping (cutting flowers) is typically done when half the plants have at least one open flower- you seem pretty close to being right on time for topping.
If you aren’t trying for seeds, I’d top them all: nicotine will be stronger if you do, but if any are oriental varieties, it will weaken their flavor: orientals are traditionally not topped.
After topping the leaves will often grow much bigger and thicker over the next few weeks.

I will top them today. So the cutting point is just below the the lowest flower?
