The unknown tomato in my bed is a Lemon paste tomato. I hoped for a Carbon or another Pink Berkeley Tie-dye, but I will still make sauce out of it.

I let the rain do it or turn on the overhead sprinklers. I used to do drip line but it ain’t worth the hassle

The tale of the dill that wasn’t:
The wife and I were quite pleased with the lush growth of our dill plant this year. In the past as soon as it gets big enough to start harvesting, the caterpillars munch it down, then the summer heat kills what’s left. So we were very excited to see how well it was doing this year. So our first batch of cucumbers were ready last week so the wife made a batch of pickles using some of the fresh dill.
SPOILER ALERT - it’s not dill. It’s fennel. Must have been mislabeled at the nursery. The pickles still taste good.

I planted a Bleeding Heart bulb in this pot this spring when I started the garden. I enriched the soil with some compost from our composter. The Bleeding Heart never came up, but these tomatoes did. Must have taken from the "wrong" side of the composter. As you can see, they are going to town, already have a dozen tomatoes on it with more to come. Pretty sure it's a Roma.
Just finished remodeling my garden. Got huge amount of free woodchips so i did walking area with that. Also was wood underneath already with winecap mushrooms. So walkway doubles as food production also. Made beds with an inch of sand, inch compost, 1lb 19-19-19 and 1lb epsom salt per 100sq ft per soil test instructions. Mixed togather and 1inch compost on top as mulch layer. Not much to see yet most things were seeded recently or still small.
It's a bear, having a pair of bare pear years.
For the last two seasons, an abnormally warm springtime has caused my two, dwarf pear trees to produce more blossoms than I can ever recall. Then an abnormally late, hard frost kills every blossom. So I have two beautifully leafed-out dwarf pear trees with no fruit.
During the rare, "good" years, I can harvest two bushels of pears without even having to teeter on the top of a step ladder to reach the upper half of each tree's fruit, and just allow it to fall to the ground to support my wild neighbors.
The apples blossomed a tad later. Maybe I will get some apples this year, after a bust last year.

The rain just stopped, I read Bob's post and I thought that if we are still in the 'pears' chapter, I can post two or three pictures with my trees, which this year were 'successful'. On this occasion I noticed how infested the trees are, even though I did treatments, but it rains every day and everything I do is in vain.
