Lug tobacco question

Have 12 plants growing of various kinds. I took all the lug/ sand leaves, cased and are currently pressing them.
1st question- does anyone else do this because I read online that the bottom leaves do not have much flavor?
2nd question- I noticed my Virginia leaves did not smell sweet or like anything at all to be matter a fact. Is this because they are the bottom leaves or did they not cure correctly?

Leaves from the bottom of the stalk are considerably more combustible than those from the upper stalk. They are excellent for blending.

Did you flue-cure your Virginia?

Hi Bob, no I did not flue cure them, just hung them in my shed. Was planning on keeping them pressed in the plug for 6 months atleast

The flue-curing process is what retains the sugars in Virginia tobacco.
