Something I've never seen before. I believe the little black specks emerged from this.
Could be some typ of larvs which are trapped on sticky tobacco leafes. Bad parenting.

The tallest Corojo is over my head, with the other three close behind and just showing flower heads. The tallest Hacienda is around 5'5" and hasn't flowered yet.
Note to current and future first time growers: sometimes it has to warm up and dry out before things look as they should, and/or it takes three weeks - you can't waste patience.

Stop worrying and check for hornworms.
Cigar leaf allowed to mature beyond the stage shown below, is subject to wind damage. It's already too rugose for making a practical wrapper.
When I stalk harvest, I wait for the top leaf to show thickening and a slight rugosity, even without a yellow tip. Then the whole stalk goes into the shed.

No. But I did get a UV flashlight, been checking the plants every night. BT will probably be easier.Are you using BT?
