And what about the back ups for the back ups?
I’m moving seedlings of Yellow-109 from the seeded trays into extras freed up by the moving of the Small Stalk Black Mammoth.
Should end up with about 48+ seedlings of Yellow-109.
The last time I grew it, I said I wouldn’t plant it again, but it turns out it is a bit stronger then Lemonka, and a bit faster, but the yields are so low it isn’t worth potting soil. In the ground, however, the math works.

Queen to bishop six, check. Knight takes queen. Bishop to king seven, checkmate.

Despite heavy slug damage, Hill-109 is doing well. Might be flowering…View attachment 56239View attachment 56240View attachment 56241
Those look amazing !
Have you ever tried beer traps for those slugs? My grandfather/ father always used beer to kill them, just burry container and fill with some cheap beer and put the lid on with a hole in it. I remember my grandmother just burying tuna cans left open with beer in it and they'd get stuck in it too, looked like a can of anchovies lol. I believe they'd quite often just burry a pop bottle and things of that nature to same thing with beer and they'd crawl in there and drown.
Edit: my father said for cheaper ( and not to waste beer ) sugar and yeast works just as well. As that's all they are going for. If anything it might work even better as it'll be active and releasing a lot of scent

I’ve heard a lot about the beer trap, but, I just put down some slug bait, and it seems to be working.
I really should have cut the grass farther back away from the plants.

Strange thing about the plants- they should end up about 70cm tall, according to Polygon’s site. These aren’t even half that.
Maybe they will gain some height as they flower.

Oh wow! Maybe hey! I guess everything depends on light weather etc. Amazing how much of a difference one thing can make.
Well I'm sure you'll get something nice out of em regardless

Off-balcony Bursa topped. We have 30km/hr winds this week, and the flower heads are off balancing the plants enough to keep tipping them over. I’ve also stuck some sticks in the ground at the base of the pots to try and keep them from tipping.
This won’t prevent the wind from whipping the leaves to shreds, and the leaves too low for the wind to destroy, the slugs will eat….

My wife told me to try a plant that is easier to grow locally, but I have zero interest in trying to smoke potatoes.IMG_5129.jpeg

Here are some pictures I took this morning. Hyang Cho test run in front of my house I'm letting flower and seed and I have about 30 in the garden that I will top the tips to see if the plant changes much after being topped. One thing I was surprised is that there were zero suckers throughout the entire cycle, that may change after topping.

I’m going to need you to tell me if there is any difference between the topped and untopped finished leaf. I topped everything.

12 Canik moved to balcony for hardening off.
I have 12 of the “Samsoun Orient” variety, and since so few have grown it, I topped six, and will leave 6 to flower and harvest like normal oriental types. Flower cluster look “Hungarian” to anyone else?
12 One Sucker potted up and on the balcony.IMG_5141.jpegIMG_5142.jpegIMG_5143.jpegIMG_5145.jpeg
