I just plucked a few leaves from the bale and this tobacco is the polar opposite of the Stacked Basma. Katerini is a bold, full flavored Aromatic tobacco with sufficient impact to know you're smoking something without being offensive in the least. The leaves are nearly intact, but they're not as nicely arranged as the Stacked Basma. This is really good tobacco.

"Shaped leaves of Katerini 53 and Katerini M are heart-shaped, with a short handle naked. (Fig. 1) lamina is slightly wrinkled and the color is dark green. "

"Katerini variety"

XEPIA ("xeria") translates as "hands", which I presume to be primings, though I'm not sure.

It sure looks like the WLT leaf is the real deal.

When it came in today, I was trying to describe the color with a couple of warehouse guys and the best I could come up with is "Greenish Brown". My warehouse manager always samples the tobacco straight out of the bale/case and he said "Turkish tobacco smokes the color it is". The Stacked Basma is very light colored whereas the Katerini is very dark...I think he's right.

The aftertaste of the Katerini lingered for about an hour...not unpleasant in the least.

Smoked a bowl of the Katerini I received yesterday.

Great stuff! Smooth aroma, somewhat subdued, in the bag. Perfect moisture content. Took two leaves, stripped and cut them up, packed a bowl and lit. Very nice aroma, not overpowering or harsh at all. Flavor was a full, pleasant oriental flavor - acidic (tangy), a bit floral/perfumy, not especially sweet. No bitterness or harshness of any kind.

Anyone who enjoys orientals and hasn't ordered what Don has should jump on it. This stuff is great!
