Hi all was too busy today to get some pics of my grow but here's one of A photo of our fire at Kaimaumau North of my place. It started before Xmas and although now under control is still burning in the peat underground.
View attachment 40324 it burned over 2700 ha and destroyed a lot of native habitat. Shame really but it seems to happen every year. Careless holiday makers maybe?

yup seems to be fires every year now and us Aucklander's get water shortages.

A couple of pics. They are a bit rough and and nowhere near as good as Davo's, a little lack of attention. Still they'll be right, my helper is back from her hard earned holiday. I'll try and get some more pics next week (if the approaching cyclone let's me).

Thanks guys. We should be ok where we are we're pretty sheltered and I think that it'll go further east. We will be affected by storm surges but that’s all. Let you know next week.

Here in Florida we are no strangers to hurricanes... Hurricane Ivan was the worst I faced with 130 mph sustained winds. 10 days no power and that was because the neighbors got together and cleared the way in/out of the neighborhood! It made it easy for the utility workers to do their thing.

Looks like my hurricane predictions may be correct. We are pretty lucky up here in the Far North, most of the storms seem to miss us. We get the odd mini Tornado but damage is isolated.

Yes the explosions where heard all over NZ. Sounded like a sonic boom. We have no flooding as yet, but that may change later. High tide is at 08:39 NZDT, so we'll see what happens.

Wow! That's a couple of thousand miles from Tonga. That is a loud bit of noise.

Sorry guys wrong info.
The sonic booms were heard in Tonga, the reporter said that it caused pain in her ears. The noise in NZ was like someone had dropped a heavy box or something. Several loud thumps. They were loud enough to attract attention. We don’t expect any wave problems from it, but the storm off the east coast will cause storm surges and people are being warned not to go swimming.

Nevertheless, that's a long way for sound to travel. That's Krakatoa loud.

Thank you. You don't want to be too much like me with my broken body, I would suggest that you train your children like I have. My youngest daughter has excelled herself by doing most of my work. I would not have been able to do it myself. All of the work on my patch has been done by her and I thank her for it.

My body is pretty broken and have not made 40 yet... It's a shame that I did not believe or maybe did not care about the adults telling me "shouldnt do that. You will regret it later." when I was a kid. The wisdom hurts Ha!
