My garden is ready, pretty much. I spaded, and turned in 225lbs of alfalfa pellets, and planted my garlic.

So I heard this year about someone who plants their green leafy vegetables and carrots in late fall. We're in central Alberta zone 3/4. They sprout in spring. I assume success depends on the seeds not germinating before winter freeze.

I thought I would try a few veggies with old seed I had kicking around: beets, lettuce, cilantro, dill, peas.

Does anyone have experience with this technique?

my pole beans ive learned i dont need to seed at all. they just naturally drop down the fence and seed them self after months of cold winter. if hot weather crops can overwinter their seeds im sure cooler weather crops can. i just haven't done it on purpose before. but peas at least i think thats a fairly normal thing to do, sure others could work also
