Amateur Torcedor
Greetings to all from the great white north! My personal cigar journey started in July of this year (2024) while working at a tourism camp. A guest that had come from abroad had purchased a few sticks at the duty free border shop and was unable to finish their last stogie ( can’t remember exactly what it was ). Since no-one else working wanted it,I decided to not let a perfectly good stick go to waste. Two hours later I was hooked like a trophy musky on a top water raider. Did some simple research, and the stick was a $34.99 ( Canadian funny money ) Cuban ( I remember that much of it ) and decided to order some online and was shocked to discover how much Canadians pay for our sticks. Two humidors, 180 cigars, and a butt- load of research later, I decided to take the plunge and roll my own ‘gars to save some coin.
After countless hours watching torcedors such as Bliss Cigar Co. ,Catharsis, various beginners, and some pros from factories, ( hope it’s ok to mention them here ) figured I could get by with some beginners knowledge to start prepping and rolling my own cigars. A MASSIVE 17 lbs came in the mail a few days back along with some other accoutrements needed for the process, and I am thrilled to be able to start my journey to being my own master blender and torcedor.
Anyways before I start a novella here, just wanted to say thank you to all the amazing contributors in this community and it’s amazingly informative and knowledgeable moderators. Wish me luck ! I’m going to need it. Happy Rolling/ Growing.
