Wow and I sowed the nb11 very sparingly.

I may end up with 2 or 3 seedlings if anything germinates as today is day 13 for them.

No worries as I was just doing a trial.

How you doing your starts Sean? ? Th seeds look ok.all good though. there's some alive in there .we only need 1 to get some more good seed back
Seed raising mix yates i think. And then a carfeull measure sprinkled sparingly.... yeah right ;)
Just tap them out of a clean teaspoonand aim for a good spread. They arent in heat so that might have something too do with my slow germination times.

I usually just do mine in seed raising mix the same but put the try in a shopping bag and put it in the hot water cupboard..should speed them up.....They probably still think it's winter down there. Hahaa

Phil. .most of mine are up in a week ..id try more at 2 weeks..personally? ?

Agreed, but I have 3ish tiny clumps of seed raise mix popping up and 2 (1 fell over) with tiny green leaves but they don't look right.

You guys with your maths----- I'll stay out of it:p

I saw on tv that you got to 20 degrees. I think you were 1 degree warmer than where I am.

Lucky you didn't then I would have been blinded like a spot light from your lilly white legs all the way up here.bahaaa

But I was in shorts today and nearly ripped my top of with all the sweat. You sure nothing blinded you today Todd? Started painting @ 8.10 am, no morning/afternoon tea as the good lady buggers off. About 40 minutes for lunch and a quick look on FTT and finished (for the day) @ 5.40 pm. Today, a large (double) wardrobe arrived, took forever to unpack it tonight and now I'm buggered. Needs to be assembled sometime, tomorrow:confused:

Okay, but talk about a skinny single leg! No wonder 1 fell over!

They need more lite when they shootup like that.

True, yet I had them in the sunroom (same as glass house) which gets filtered sun and very warm. Lack of light is not the problem under these conditions Bobo.

Got some starts transplanted individually of the 6 varieties we received from knucklehead/webby. Only growing for the seed this season.

How old is the sun room? If the glass is low E glass, the plants won't fare well. BigBonner said not even houseplants do well in front of low E glass and that was the reason I lost so many seedlings at the beginning of the year. I had to buy fluorescents. Half of them, I changed the bulb to grow/aquarium bulbs, the other half I left the standard fluorescents in and could tell no difference between the two. I don't know about NZ building codes, but around here, low E glass is required to meet the building code.

Sun room is old. I am not familiar with the glass coding over there compared to here. What is "low E glass"? The roofing is not glass but a type of semi clear roofing to allow light with filtered sun. Windows are glass though and plenty of them. Majority of the sun light comes through the roof. Plenty of light, better than using growing lights which I would only use if I was growing indoors. Put it this way, if I turn on a light in the sun room during the day, you would not notice the difference. The last few days I have been moving them a little, away from the direct weakened sun as it was getting very warm.
Incidentally, your seed germination was amazing. Won't get into %'s but very high success rate. Webby and Seanz gave me some seed and germination rate was very poor. I reckon us kiwi guys are doing something wrong!
It is only the nb11 that looked to have a skinny/wonky stem. Not yours my friend:)
