It is with the deepest regret and heartfelt sorrow that I have to report the loss of a longtime member and friend MarcL. Marc passed away on March 7th due to complications after heart surgery. Marc selflessly shared his knowledge with everyone who wanted or needed it.

I'll be receiving some of his personal belongings that include a bunch of cigars Marc rolled. These cigars will be distributed to whoever wants one or some and after everyone receives them, we'll dedicate a date and time when we'll all light up in remembrence of Marc.

R.I.P. MarcL

For our general membership, @MarcL served for years as one of our forum moderators. He expressly asked that "Moderator" not appear by his name. In his moderation duties, Marc was always fair and thoughtful. Over the next month or two, I will assemble a representative collection of his posts, to cite in the special section of our Index of Key Forum Threads. Please contact me by PM with any suggestions. Knowing and regularly communicating with someone for nine years is a long relationship to lose.

Thoughts and prayers out to his family. I’m in a little bit of shock hearing this news. @MarcL Played a part for sure in my home rolling. A few one off conversations with him, showed how amazing of a person he was. I may not have known him as long as many on here, but he was one member out of many that made me feel welcomed to the community. I always remembered him finding all of these different rolling tools out there and thought that he could find anything! He made a positive impact in my life and will not be forgotten.

Oh dear. I was just reading a thread with one of his posts. I think I would not recognize anyone from this forum if I bumped into you on the street and yet I feel so familiar with the personalities of those who post here often. I will miss his.

It seems awkward on posts such as these to click "like." Like is nowhere near a word to describe our thoughts. While i really didn't know MarcL, I would certainly be honored to remember him. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and may he rest in peace. God bless!

Oh no!!! That is awful... I sent him a direct message just a few days ago asking if he was alright... I would gladly and respectfully have some of his cigars. Heartbreaking....Man....
Rest In Peace Mark...

Marc was a stand-out person. Not because he took up more space than the average member, but because you could easily recognize that he was here for us and the community, not himself. I will continue to respect him for years to come and I'm glad that his legacy will remain for us here in this forum.

I don't need one of his cigars, but I will certainly light one up for him along with the rest of you.

What an absolutely sad occurrence. I came in here to do my weekly update and to read about @MarcL's passing has but a downer on my night. I never got the chance to know Marc for as long as the rest of you but the small interactions we had were kindly and now all I will have for his memory are those few. Just getting started I don't have anything to dedicate to Marc so even though it sounds like a small thing or maybe silly to some I am going to dedicate my entire first grow of tobacco to Marc and make sure I put Marc on all this seasons labels so that when it is ready I can once again be reminded of the small moments that our lives intersected.

I'm a pipe man and occasional cigar person, I would like everyone who knew Marc longer to have the chance to get one of his cigars, but if there is any left over I will kindly take one and join any scheduled group honoring of Marc's life.

I learned so much from Marc. I even named my lieberman machine after him… the Mach L roller. I am better for knowing him, even if only through his wisdom and kindness shared on this site. He will be missed. I would like to participate in any memorial ceremony we do as a community.

Marc was a friend to everyone here and so we have all lost a friend. I for my part am shedding a tear and thinking of all the ways he was generous to me, as well as all other folks here, whether it be with a quick and thoughtful answer to a question, a lead on a decent tuck cutter or just a "like" on a picture of an ugly cigar I just made. Rest in peace
