I will be building these (price not yet set). 42", rubber guard, dual tip, 3/8" hose (half and 5/8 available), it can be used to apply LIGHT fertilizer (it will come in contact with the foliage so don't burn the plants) also be used to apply insecticide or sucker control agent.

Mounting will be up to you, this is just a boom head, not the whole boom. It is similar to the tobbaco sprayer hoodSPRAYER_HOOD-241x175.jpg

But in reverse, demanding less materials.

something like this would be nice to have at the end of the hose,

The tips in it would require a minimum of 20psi, I could rig up a system to make a stream tip for you though.

Also, all reputable FTT users receive an immediate 25% off list price. Which will be in the $85 mark

I used a 5 gallon back pack sprayer for years before I bought a John Deere Hi- boy to spray tobacco with .

A 3 gallon will work for small growers . High pressure isn't needed for sucker control , liquid fertilize or pesticides . I run my sprayer on 25 to 30 lbs .

60 gallons of water per acre with the deere and 20 gallons with the back pack .

Thats the beauty of this set up I build, uses less liquid, it's more precise And makes a wave pattern. Same technology used up here in orchard tech and soy tech

The higher pressure (higher than what gravity can sometimes supply) is only needed to activate the drip valve assemblies and get enough pressure for a steady pattern with the tips. On my delevan set up my nominal pressure is 30 psi when using teejet Air Inducted tips

If you use sucker control , pesticides or liquid fertilizers they need low pressure and not as a fine mist . I use a corase spray on my commercial tobacco .

Some types of tobacco like CT Broad leaf you will need to Jug the sucker control down the stalk only .

I've built a corny keg 5 gallon stainless steel sprayer that you use your air compressor to air up to about 100 psi. If you put 3 gallons of liquid in it, you have enough pressure to spray out the contents...I tried to get some friends to build and sell these things, because with most home sprayers you are replacing them every year or two. They weren't interested in doing it. I still think it is a great idea. If you want to spray your cattle for flies, it'll reach out about 35 feet with a stream of spray.

Then a flood tip is the way to go, not the mist. It can be a very versatile thing.

I know about the hood type spray . I just don't use them . I have booms that spray 8 rows at a time . The spray covers all of the tobacco and the hood hits mainly at the top .For sucker control to work correctly the spray needs to be evenly applied over the tobacco . Hood spray hits the top the most and if you over mix sucker control it will burn the top leaves .Umbrella effect .
My sprayer covers 85% of each tobacco plant from tip to the stalk .

I say if the hood works for you then use it .
They also make a tobacco toper to top tobacco . I always topped by hand .

I plaN on using it, I'll put a video up about it's use eventually, y'all can buy one if ya want, If not no worries.

Also, I don't use sucker control other than my hands, that's too much chemical use for my personal liking.

I don't use alot of chemicals on any of the commercial tobacco I raise . But if you raise 20 acres you will have to use sucker control on most of it . What tobacco I sell to any one other than big tobacco , I hand sucker .This tobacco I use myself .

Yeah understood, and that's what I make this equipment for, the home user who doesn't have an 8 row sprayer or the funds for that. We suffer from the "little farm syndrome"
