That's awesome! I've been following along your grow. Keep us posted on your taste test.
Thank you! My goal is to make something simular to roda lacket (the greatest snus of all time imo..) so I've got some apricot extract on the way and already have licorise extract in the fridge.. I think a subtle combo of those two will get me something similar.

I followed an ettan recipie, ettan is my second favourite snus so either way I should be happy!

Update, my virginia plants I put in a raised bed are bloody massive! Almost intimidating.. god knows what my neighbors (above and next to us) think.. hopefully the pretty bloom makes them look less mischievous.

The leaves are literally blocking the alleyway now, I have to squeeze through them.. @deluxestogie @Knucklehead could I pick and colour cure in a towel the leaves blocking my path without much worry of wasting them?

Curing is going well, the different between color curing in a towel and just hanging them straight away is very obvious, the image of rustica hung inside the greenhouse shows how much green they still have compared to the image of the towel cured rustica!

Not much for me to report, I'm going away for 5 days and have had to break my towel curing routine.. it was either hang my whole harvest outdoors now or risk composting in a pile for the next 5 days. The tobacco pictured indoors has cured to a beautiful brown outdoors before being brought in for a final dry behind the window. Other than some hands of rustica that are visible, most has dried a nice brown and smells delightful. The rustica has cured more patchy and in a more Unpredictable way, although it smells great and has lost its foul initial smell it had whilst under a towel.

Harvest so far! Rustica has some greener patches but the rest looks/smells/is wonderful.

I said the below in response to a comment on reddit, I realised it is almost a summary of what I've learnt about curing this far..

- - -

I'm only going to make snus and nasal snuff with my leaves (I only smoke a few times a year, might try some in a pipe eventually) so I just air cured them, no fermenting.

I'm realising tobacco is more an art than I science, rather than worry about exact humidity and temperature I just kept a very close eye on the leaves.

Once primed, I put them in towels until yellow

Once yellow, they went outdoors under a cover out of the rain but with plenty of wind/air

Once brown and crinkled, with no yellow left I brought them in and hung them up next to a window with the window cracked

Once they sounded like rustilng autumn/winter leaves when touched I removed the stems and did a very very low temperature final dry in the oven until even more like crispy autumn leaves you'd sweep up on your drive.

Then into bags!!

The result is beautiful smelling, pure leaves thus far :)
