What Cigar are you smoking 2025?

So the pipe smokers have a thread where they post what pipe they’re using and what blend they’re smoking out of it so I thought (and maybe it’s been tried before without success?) us cigar smokers should have a thread where we post what we’re puffing on currently.

I am new to premium cigars and have mainly smoked “budget” sticks, nonetheless it’s some of these cheaper cigars that have won me over so much so I’m always looking forward to the end of the day for my daily relaxation smoke where I reflect on my day and plan the day to come. Today my youngest has soccer practice and it’s my day to take him so while he’s out playing Im reading over the forum here and enjoying a quite affordable imo awesome stick named Quorum Shade by the J.C. Newman Cigar Co. described as being filled with spicy Nicaraguan filler tobaccos and paired with a Connecticut Ecuadorian shade wrapper leaf. It’s ran me $5 and honestly is tastier and better constructed than some cigars that cost $10-11 dollars.

Though I have to say it’s light on spice notes and a very smooth smoke…. also for finding it on the shelf of a rural Kwik Trip in WI I’m super impressed overall… anyways….what are you guys puffing on today?

I've just finished mowing an acre, in 80° afternoon heat. Which do I need more? Rehydration? A good smoke?

I chose both. I'm now sitting in the shade of my front porch, in a gentle breeze.

The cigar is a JR Honduran Factory Corojo toro EMS. They aren't as wonderful as they used to be (25 years ago), since they're now wrapped in what seems to be Indonesian Sumatra. But it's still a decent smoke, and at about $1.50 per stick, when I catch them on sale. (If I find them on sale, I always purchase 2 bundles.) They used to come entirely naked, inside a newspaper bundle of a half-wheel (50 cigars). They're still in the newspaper (a Spanish language newspaper!) half-wheel, but each stick is encumbered by a cellophane sleeve. Fortunately, they still have no cigar bands.

The rehydration is (so far) two large mugs of chocolate milk. It's actually a rather nice pairing.

That does sound like a great pairing…especially after that much mowing. I imagine the smell of the fresh cut acre and cigar smoke together would be quite pleasant too.

I had not such a great day yesterday and so to brighten my day my wife had my son give me my birthday gift a couple days early and I can’t wait for work to be over today so I can try my hand at rolling… I’ll be using your instructional video for guidance. I have no mold/press yet and while I appreciate the aesthetic aspect of cigar rolling I’m aiming for “functional” I guess you could say for my first hand rolled sticks.

Tatuaje Surrogates Closing Time. It's a 6×50 toro consisting of Mexican, Nicaraguan, and US Broadleaf clothed in shade grown Corojo 99. I couldn't find any more specific details, but based on the bittersweet woody cacao-ish notes, I'd say the broadleaf is probably PA Broadleaf. Excellent cigar, though because I live in California I paid too much for it.

So I’m somewhat enjoying my first one…lol I can tell if I would’ve rolled it tighter it would be a lot more enjoyable. I can definitely understand the wisdom in “roll one, smoke one” and that’s exactly what I shall do. Thank you! It’s burning too hot though and making the smoke a bit to hot and I attribute that to being way to loose.

Saturday night after the kids get put down, I get to relax in the garage. I have been thinking my top shelf Humidor is getting too many onesie twosie sticks in it. These are usually just extra sticks I buy at the lounge that I want to try without being financially invested. But this one came as a one-off in a sampler I bought. So tonight's pick is Liga Privada 10th Aniversario, interestingly enough has a Connecticut Criollo wrapper and 1 of the fillers is PA Broadleaf. Surprised they would use this much American leaf. Also a Mexican San Andreas Binder, which proves they were not lazy with this blend. Seems to be trendy these days to use San Andreas as wrapper on everything so they knew they had a very special wrapper to cover up the SA. I probably should have taken a picture of the fishtail cap before I cut it but it also came with a closed foot. Typical of Drew Estate this cigar puts out an almost abnormal amount of smoke. Really pick up the malt of the PA Broadleaf. Had to touch up once or twice but overall quite enjoyable. No surprises in flavor kind of the Pot Roast of Liga.

Another hand rolled stick from my WLT kit. I’ve been following deluxestogie’s advice of “roll one, smoke one” and it has been serving me well. I think I’m definitely getting better at rolling, this is my 3rd one and it smoked great! I tried capping the end for practice and while my rolling skills leave something to be desired; the capping process is my weakest area (thankfully the least important, or so it would seem). Anyways this is what I’m smoking today and have to say really enjoying this blend, looking forward to my next order from them.

Had this yesterday while doing some yard work. Always enjoyed this stick. Cedar and coffee bean notes with some cinnamon on the retro. Excellent cigar!

It's been an awfully hot (38-42°c)few weeks here in pakistan but, I have been fortunate enought to enjoy a tatuaje RC series no 2 tonight with the father in law. Absolutely beautiful smoke!!

Someone gave me an Ambrosia Spice, by Drew Estates. A 5 × 54 torpedo, it looked good, with a slight rosado tint to the wrapper. Being an infused cigar, it had an aroma not unlike an unbrewed spiced chai teabag. I was cautiously optimistic, as I was told the cigar had been aging for a few years. I decided to give it a go this morning and was shocked by how bad it was. The only pluspoint was the aroma of the burning cigar was actually pleasant and might make a good incense.

I am not inclined to repeat the experience.

A better cigar today...erm, well yesterday at this point. La Dueña #5 (robusto). La Dueñas are a core of CT BL and Nicaraguan leaf wrapped in a CT BL maduro. Very tasty stick, with a dense flavor.

Some stogies are just too hard to snuff out! This one was one I rolled just to get a sense of the flavor of the leaf, criollo 98 ligero, sumatra binder and camaroon wrapper, I thought it was going to be super bold but to my surprise was not near as strong as i"d believed, could actual;y become my EDC.

My first Macanudo… I should’ve went for a Punch as after the day I had at work a nice full bodied stick would hit the spot right about now and this is a little too mellow for what I’m in the mood for but still tasty nonetheless. Even better is time with my sons and horse that thinks she’s a dog
