The first thing I did was shred some of that 8 year old Burley. I smoked a puro uncased and it is amazing! Never tasted Burley like that. Extremely smooth and sweet (sweet Burley? Whoever heard of such a thing). Tastes like milk chocolate.

I actually prefer it without the casing...there's nothing to correct.

My package arrived, too! That was fast, Don, you have a good post office there in Ohio. The first thing I did was shred some of that 8 year old Burley. I smoked a puro uncased and it is amazing! I had to do the same thing. Picked up a carton of zig zag tubes.
A little light in the beginning of the cigg. But starting getting a good hit about half way thru. Smooth yes, I would say a little nutty tasting. A little dry on the throat hit tho. Very good all by itself for a burley. Amazed. A good medium flavored cigg. It actually reminds me of one. Can't put my finger on it tho.

Yeah, same here. I just tried one cased. But for those weaning themselves off of commercial cigs, they're going to want to taste the casing. I saved some uncased for myself.

The threshed flue cured is pretty good, too.

Hope mine shows up tomorrow. When I arrived home today, my mailbox was knocked over on the ground, empty, maybe no foul play was involved.

I have a scale and notebook ready.

My plan is to shred it all and apply casing to only half of each.

I would be careful with any preconceived notions on this tobacco. If you case half of it, you will be limiting your options dramatically. I suggest casing a little at a time. Understand the effect a small amount has on a tobacco then use it in a blend.

Blending tobaccos is more of an art than a science.

Well.got in late...love mondays.

Checked the mail and it opened up to....a wlt pillow usps package....dang.

Im tempted to get into the bags tonite..but its been a long day.

Don..imma take ur advice and case each moderately...but try em naked first so i can experience the casing impact.

Im pretty interested in this burley which has been getting good reviews...it could be that secret ingredient.....?

Maybe ill catch a 2nd wind tonight and play a bit ..

I wouldn't be too sure about that. Do you happen to know Knucks whereabouts earlier today?..

You both make good points.

Okay...that didnt take long...

The burley is very very nice...

It has a nice subtle depth to it...unsweetened dark chocolate without the bitterness...

Im gona drop a bit into the current daily blend in about half hr and see how it blends in....i know this isnt the blend target....but dropping in 30% into the current blend is peaking curiosity...

By the way the threshed baccy turns out a little smaller but works fine on a powermatic two injector and no desteming.

I get the smaller shred from small oriental leaf too, a little higher case before shredding helps if you want the shred a bit larger.

Okay..that didnt take long either...

And don..thanks for the ftt stuff..i like the lighter.

So too late to take the shredder out..but hand shredded about a gram..already commented on the burley by itself.

I took the rest of the pinches of burley shred and matched it with the current blend..50% burley...50% current blend and im glad i did...

Its excellent...

The current blend

% below

10 dark air
10 prilep
20 md 609
30 bright
30 red

Adding the burley rounded it out perfectly.

The current blend always seemed a bit sharp on the sweetness...

The burley put meat on the table and added the chocolate depth that was missing.

It leaves an extremely nice chocolate coating in the mouth.

Similiar to what the red va does..but with a sophisticated chocolate depth taste.

Yup..found that out when i had a shred session this past weekend..had some red va that came in a bit loose / broken smaller oieces and when shredding..it came out about half the size of a standard whole leaf shred.

Any suggestions on adding the casing on small amounts. I was making combinations of small amounts like .60 of a ounce and one shot of the stuff will probably overkill.

Maybe try blending uncased with cased to get it to the level you want.

I was afraid of the same thing bt, so went I up to 3oz blends. 1 squirt per 3oz baccy seems to work pretty nice.

The fire cured looks awesome. This is some beautiful leaf. I see why people are using it for wrapper.
Killed me to put it thru the shredder.
