FYI - we are wanting the tobacco for cigarette smoking - so a virginia burley mix ideally....would also like to build relationships in regards to curing kiln/fermemnting chamber options (we have an idea that could benefit all involved as the market here has not been tapped into and is ready...pm us if your interested in talking further

FTT is not a forum for conspiring to violate laws. While I welcome new members, I discourage forum members from engaging in illegal activity.

We have a number of forum members who grow tobacco in New Zealand. That would be a more appropriate place to start.

I am not being nasty but if someone is foolish enough to send you WLT and you get caught it will reflect on the whole home grow scene in NZ. Grow your own and use it yourself. The big boys and ASH are just looking for an excuse to screw us out of this hobby so don't screw it for the rest of us.

Fair enough - from what we have already been told people are allowed to import WLT into NZ - but there seems to a limit on how much tobacco leaf your allowed to import - has anyone from NZ imported leaf? if so what is the procedure? I am told they heat treat it when it arrives and there are no duties charged as it is not considered a commercial tobacco product

Even here in Canada me offering money for the costs of growing is a little dicey.

Turns out is 100% legal to import whole leaf tobacco into NZ - no limit to the volumes but there is a way to completely avoind gst (taxes) and surcharges - you do have to pay a small fee for heat treatment though

In Canada there is duty but its nominal its worth paying it

I've never had anything but a positive experience with bigbonner, and the selection of types is great. One type I'm absolutely head over heels with since I got a sample over the winter of is BH(Big Havana). It's probably not anything at all related to any type of Havana but a misplaced seed in a pack of Havana 142 from one of the many strains available from the grin as it is clearly not H142. Can we rename it to Butcher's Havana since we have no flipping idea what it's real name is? I wonder if Jessica could help us narrow down the possibilities.

It might possibly be the best tasting tobacco I've ever had. A little bit in a Virginia heavy blend makes the flavor perfumed, sweet and strong. A cigar rolled from it is pure bliss.

When you make an order with him ask for a sample if any is left. This strain is just phenomenal. I've literally fallen asleep thinking about it and miserly measure out what I have left for special occasions as I wait for the 20lbs I pre-ordered from him to hurry up and finish growing.

This sounds obsessive, maybe it is. Try it.

I planted a half of a acre of Big Havana and every plant looks just like the seed plant does . There is not a single plant that looks even the slightest bit different in that plot .
The only problem I ham having this year is blooming a little shorter than usual . This is because of a heavy early 3 " of rain and it turned of hot and dry , tropical storm Cindy dumped a lot more rain . This made my tobacco root system to become shallow causing roots to not grow out in search of water . But the leaves all look good . My biggest fear right now is wet soil and a gust or two of wind blowing my crop down .
