Hi folks!

I've always loved cigarettes but the price in the UK these days is ridiculous and besides with every added restriction on tobacco sales the quality has decreased.

I used to love Lucky Strikes, Gauloises Brunes / Blondes Rouge, Camel … But after the ban of branded packaging the quality of Luckies & Camels nosedived; Gauloises aren't imported anymore. The best cigarettes I can get are Malrboro Reds but they aren't what they used to be and the cost is approaching £20GBP per 20-cigarette pack.

I want to try and tube my own cigarettes with the aim of creating a semi-decent smoke and save some money. The vast majority of resources and wisdom for this type of enterprise is focussed on the American market, with occasional insights from the EU. The UK is a basket case of a market, with the result that pretty much none of the materials and advice apply over here. So I would be really grateful if anybody had any recommendations for this enterprise!

Cheers,
Z

I've imported leaf from the States before for cigar rolling and also ordered from tobacco shops online for bulk pipe blends (Peter Stokkebye etc) that arent available here. Although since January 25 every order I've put through has found its way to customers and HMRC want daft prices. For example I wanted a tin of 1792 Gawith Hoggarth without the warning label cos I'm from near where its made and with postage was the same price (£23.99) as buying it from the UK, HMRC wanted £179 VAT, duties and tax......

While the States seem to have shut everything from Europe gets through no questions asked.
There is loads of info in the forums about preparing whole leaf if you went on the 'grow your own' or purchase route. Its not too hard to source UK versions of stuff or disreguard things like using distilled water which isnt a thing over here.

Unless your in Stornoway its not too late to start growing some for this year. Poundland sometimes sell tubing machines and bigger vape shops sell tubes if you look.

Hi Bob,

No, sadly I don’t have the facilities — my interest is in tubing cigarettes from bought commodities.
