Hello all, First post here at FTT.
Have sampled nearly 2 dozen brands of tubes so far incl. Kings, 100's FF's and "lights", and can say that no two are similar.
(I've been searching for the most neutral [least impact on flavor] available.)
So far, 3 Castles FF are the best I've found. The only things more neutral are non-filtered, (D&R's Athey) and rolling papers, (which I've been testing as well.)
Gizeh Silver Tip FF are great for tempering the more full-bodied, aggresive blends without negatively affecting flavor, imho.

Welcome to the forum, Oliver! I've never heard of Three Castles, I'll have to try some. Today I've been comparing Zig Zag Blue (light) with Rizla Blue and it's close to a tie. So far my two favorites.

DonH, thanks man. Glad to be here, learning by the minute. One of the biggest revelations in ryo for me was how dramatic an effect different tubes have on flavor.
(I figured they'd be different in how much filtering of smoke there might be, but pretty much the same, taste-wise........oops.)

I'll hand-roll or rollbox a blend for a base-line when testing tube neutrality. The 100% Hemp rolling papers are the best I've found so far. (No worries, no THC content.. :))

I haven't tried the light versions of ZZ or Rizla, myself, but the FF versions were both pretty good, imo. Another brand I'm partial to is Mascotte. (A Dutch subsidary of Gizeh--if I'm not mistaken.)

An RYO friend of mine recently asked if there was such a thing as an "organic" or "chemical free" cig tube. I said I hadn't a clue but would ask. He doesn't care about color. He said "Brown, white or pink it makes no difference."

Thanks ---- John

I've never found any. There is a need in the marketplace for a hemp unbleached tube. But I guess the types that go for that kind of thing usually are RYO.

It's my understanding that tubes made in the EU (Gizeh, Mascotte) are chlorine-free. (They're even more heavily regulated than we are. Yeeow!)
Rizla was chlorine-free but since they are now made in USA, I don't know.
No tubes currently meet the labyrinthine regs necessary to qualify as "organic". R.A.W. makes an organic rolling paper as well as other organic smoking-related products.
For some reason, I thought Beretta tubes were chlor-free, but I can't find verification of that. I'll blame it on my advanced age.

I got some hemp papers once - worst tasting I've ever tried - ruined the tobacco taste.
Trade name was Chills, made in China, maybe that's why.

3 castles is the same as zen or laramie.

and if shipping on a case of 50 didnt kill me and i knew id like them, id be up for it. those shargios might be to my liking if there is no chlorine taste. i suppose as a store owner you cant open a box and stuff 3 in an envelope?

I've started using the Vera Cruz Nocturne tubes. The paper is brown which is the natural color of paper. The white papers have been bleached white. With bleach. I've eliminated chemicals in my tobacco and I don't want to smoke bleach any more than any of the other stuff that big tobacco puts in their commercial chemical sticks.

Boboro and I are smoking the Golden Harvest tubes and they have made me lose any desire I may have had left in my subconscious to smoke store bought cigs.I didn't really care for the other brand he was buying,it seemed to burn up too fast.

I'm using Smoking Deluxe Tubes (275) cca. 2$
Newer tried anything else. Satisfied, but I will start to find some other brand to see the difference.
I also try to make cigarillos with cigar lives and glue it with egg white. I use Smoking king size rollie.
Difficult to make, but worth effort.

I would like to give a "shout out" for Hot Rod tubes. I like the longer 20 mm filter, but most of all, I like the way the filter mushes/shrinks less than all the other tubes. All my tobaccos taste great in them. I have read claims that the tube is 25% of the flavor, I think totally crazy, they need either stronger tobacco or tubes with way less flavor! Hot Rods neither add or subtract from the tobacco flavor imo. I can still find them online for less than $2.00. For back up, I use Shargio tubes, the only other made in USA tube, almost as good and cheap.
