Granny -
It varies ...
If you're really lucky - and this only seems to happen once, to first-timers - you might just get it on your doorstep within a fortnight from making the order. This only happens when the parcel escapes MPI Heat Treating it.
Up until recently the process from order to delivery has been taking an average of 8 weeks.
However, very recently they seem to have had a real shake-up at MPI and it appears that parcels are coming through in just over four weeks. The big hold-up used to be with the heat treatment.

Most of my orders take 6 weeks or there about.

The last order took 5 days to leave the US, arrived in NZ exactly 1 week after leaving the US.

MPI sent me a letter 4 days after arrival, and I got the letter 16 days after arrival (although Easter was in the middle of this), and I paid for the treatment on the same day.

Tobacco arrived 17 days after I paid for treatment...so, 6.5 weeks from order to arrival.

Latest order was paid for on 13th June, was at MPI on 21st June, got letter 26th June and paid same day; was released today (14th July, 1 month after ordering), should see it by Wednesday (17th July) finger's crossed...

Just on 5 weeks, order to arrival...

This is my 4th order, haven't had one come through without an MPI hold up yet...maybe next time, but i'm not holding my breath...

Thats good to hear. I think we should make the most of these orders while we can & think its a temporary loop-hole over looked & will not be surprised if gets shut down. I'm on my second order now. Just arrived in Auckland, has taken 5 days.
Last order I got Double Bright I thought was quite good. Piloto Cubano Viso as a roll-own with filter was very good/ very nice. Getting mostly Red Leaf this time.

Cibao Valley Vuelta Abajo Hab. Seco, 1lb.1
T-13 Dominican Criollo 98/Piloto Viso Cigar Filler, 1lb.1
Flue Cured Virginia Red Leaf Unmanufactured Tobacco, 1lb5
Perique Tobacco, 1/2 lb.

The above is what I ordered. 8 days delivery & straight to the front door, no Customs or delays heat treatment. So very happy... :D
Glad to hear another report about the Red Leaf. It must be one of the main really good ones.

I borrowed a pound from a friend of Tennessee Dark Fire cured. I think its the same as the Kentucky. Am giving her a pound of Red Leaf. This Tennessee stuff tastes strong & the flavour is not great. I would not buy it. It took about 6-8 leaves as roll-own with filter to get used to it. Think I'll blend it with something else.

Dark fired is not a smokable on its own product in my opinion. It however is what I would call a blender. I am not into the halfzwares if I speed that right. Just straight Virginia for me. You can blend it with some perique and virginia and you would be amazed. I would go 50% or 60 virginia 30-40 dark fired 10 perique

I agree, it really is not smokeable on its own. Thanks, I'll do just that.

Damn, all these Kiwi's getting their orders almost immediately and not one of mine has ever escaped heat treatment...

...on a positive note, my 8lb of Red Leaf turned up on my doorstep yesterday...

After trying red leaf, I don't think I'd smoke anything else now...

Hey...
I agree about the Red Leaf... its real good...
2nd favourite is Vuelta Abajo Seco... rich & strong flavour, very very very nice... Am smoking it as a roll own with papers & filter. Am trying the Ligero next.

Just placed an order. Looks like there is provision for NZ taxes in checkout. Paid nothing this time, but 1st Dec it might be active. Will place another order in 1 week & be set up for 6 months or so... :)

As of July 1st this year whole leaf will be illegal. People will need a import permit from customs which might be impossible for most.
