And let us know how it goes, I hope!

I opened it up last night to re seal the bag. It smelled like wet partially cured tobacco ( shocking, since it is wet partially cured tobacco).

I re sealed it and today there appears to be more gas evolution. I’m going to re seal both ends just to be sure there are no leaks in the bag.

Alright, update on the year and a half old bag of wet vacuum sealed tobacco from the page before!

I found the bag while cleaning today and decided to open it. When I opened it and stick my nose in, I was greeted with a hard to describe smell. I’d call it a mix of vinegar and if you could imagine “molasses without the sweet part”, almost tomatoey or pickle ish. The block took about an hour to tease apart, but surprisingly, the leaves seem to be just as elastic as the day I put them in there. I can’t remember what type they were. Can any tobacco sleuths take a guess? I’m currently drying the tobacco down to low to medium case to minimize the chances of mold. Depending on the smell, I might even be brave enough to try smoking some in a few days.

Options are: Corojo, pilot, Prilep, and YTB.

Looks like YTB to me. You can pretty easily scratch Prilep from the list of potentials.
Thank you! I think you are correct, there may have been the odd prilep leaf or two in there, but I think it’s mostly ytb.

Edit: on second thought, iirc I stalk cured most of my ytb. I’m thinking maybe little Dutch?

Photo 6, with the leaf spread out next to the… knifey like object, definitely looks like YTB (again, to me. Some of the darker stuff in the bunch may be little Dutch -the little dutch should look noticeably more narrow.

I tried to get a side by side of a YTB next to a little Dutch… lighting is bad with my phone in the basement here, but the YTB on the left is very similar colour to yours (irl). The little dutch is not in case and I could only get this little leaf out safely (should be around the same length or longer than the YTB).

You may have a mix in there… I’m just going off picture 6…

Good point! Little Dutch was always much darker, I think you are correct!
